Review the common issues below. If you did not find the answer to your problem, please contact us.
Display problems
- If the mathematical notation or the animated graphics do not show up correctly, please check that you have installed the required plugins.
- If the fonts (text and math) do not appear right, check if your browser is set to accept the fonts of the web site, and not to overwrite them by the browser's choice:
Choose "Tools", "Internet Options", "General", "Accessibility",
if something is selected - unselect all, close by choosing "OK", and "OK" again.
- If the figure-window is stuck for more than a second, before the "end" sign appears on the control bar, the graphics is waiting for your instructions. Search the active yellow buttons.
- If an error message indicating that the XML page cannot be displayed due to a syntax error, please hit the "refresh" or "reload" button of your browser. This error may happen when a page is not fully loaded to the browser.
- Old version of a plugin can cause problem after upgrading Windows with Service Pack 2. Uninstall the culprit plugin, and install its last version.
- If you have upgraded Internet Explorer to version 7, and have changed the default configuration, you may get some problems with the SVG plugin. If you don't want to reset the configuration, you can cure the problem by applying only once the following instructions:
- On the Internet Explorer bar open "tools" and choose "Internet Options".
- Choose "Security" and then click on the icon "Trusted sites".
- Click on "sites". A window opens. Make sure that "Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone" is not marked. At "Add this website to the zone:" type: http://mathanimated.com
Click on "Add" and then on "Close" to close this window.
- You are now back in the window of "Trusted sites". Click on "Custom level...". Find "Activex controls and plug-ins" at the menu, and mark "enable" at "Run Activex controls and plug-ins". Close the window by clicking "OK", and again "OK" for leaving finally the "Internet Options".
That way you list the site of the courseware as trusted, and allow to apply on it the plugin.
A splash screen
- Question. I've noticed a commercial poping-up and disappearing when I open a page. How can I get rid of it?
- Answer. You cannot, but the good news are that it does not appear again when you are changing pages, unless you reopen the browser. This is the trade mark of "MathPlayer", the plugin software that displays the mathematical expressions written in MathML.
Text size
- Question. I cannot change the size of the text in a page-window. Is there a solution?
- Answer. Yes there is! Just click on any link and return back to your page. The size change will be unlocked, and stay that way when you keep changing pages, unless you reopen the browser.
Zooming and return to the original size of a figure-window
- Question. How can I zoom the content of a figure-window and restore the original size?
- Answer. In addition to the method using the right click menu explained and illustrated in Fig. Pythagoras, you can use the following method for zooming. To zoom-in put your cursor at the point you want to zoom around, press ctrl (the shape of the cursor will change to a plus sign) and click. You can continue clicking till the desired zoom is achieved. However there is a limit which is apparent from the shape of the cursor. For zooming-out the instructions are the same but you have to press shift simultaneously with ctrl (the shape of the cursor changes to minus sign).
Dragging in a figure window
- Question. How can I pan the content of a fig-window?
- Answer. As explained in Fig. Pythagoras, position your cursor at any convenient place of the window and press the alt key. The shape of the cursor will change to a hand. Press and keep mouse down when dragging.
